I’m Vanessa. You probably already knew.
I’m 25. I’m a graphic designer who works in a small but cozy design house right smack in the middle of Chinatown. Not kidding. I’m very, very sure the faceless yellow dude in Google maps would fail to locate this said design house, and it is almost inaccessible a month before Chinese New Year thanks to the annual bazaar that takes place right there below the office.
And this is pretty much my life recorded, for the Vanessa 20 years from now.
Some rather random facts about yours truly:
• I’m a Peranakan.
• Dark chocolates are my main weakness. There are other weaknesses, like sleeping at odd hours, pasta or cheese (or both combined), but dark chocolate just does it for me. The darker, the better.
• I can hold my liquor, but I’m an absolute failure when it comes to beer.
• I don’t/don’t like to club(been there, done that), but I listen to club music quite a bit. And no, I don’t smoke. Never will. Call it straight-edge, call it nerdy, call it “uncool”. The bunch of us still do exist, whether you care or not.
• I’m left handed on a horizontal surface (paper), but right handed on a vertical surface (blackboard).
• I would like to own a telescope, one day.
• I don’t like to be around people without aims or goals in life, or people who have set out to achieve something but failed in the process not because it was difficult but because they A)got lazy halfway through, B)started procrastinating, C)was just going through the motion without real interest or genuine passion. Honestly, I feel such people affect me to the point where I get uncomfortable, breathless and just overall, quite irritated. Then they leave and the frustration I feel takes DAYS to subside and disappear. Everyone is entitled to their handful of chances to make mistakes and be foolish, but please don’t abuse that right. You are not snorting coke.
• I’m a closeted korean drama/song addict. You will NOT find me screaming my head off and waving a light stick frantically at a concert or chasing said famous person all over the place.
• I can’t stop drinking teh-ping. Close friend A has suggested I make a foodie blog restricted only to teh-pings in Singapore, and I’m seriously considering doing that.
• Tough fight between Charlie Brown and Snowy from Tin Tin as one of my favorite characters when I was a kid. The plush toy doll of Charlie Brown is the only one that escaped Black Trash Bag Death (BTBD) to this day.
• I think the ol’ vintage Lao Fu Zi comics might have been a great influencing factor in my getting highly amused by real people doing silly/stupid things.
